25/01/2011 - Woburn Sands Library Update

Below is a letter sent to all WS residents following the meeting on the 18th January. You will find the information sheet the documents and representations section of the Home Page of the web site.

Woburn Sands Library Update from Cllr David Hopkins:
"I promised I would write again with a report on the outcome of the lively and very well attended Community Meeting held on 18th January in the Memorial Hall and many thanks for the numerous messages of support passed on to town councillors Cllr Mike Geddes, Cllr Jacky Jeffreys and myself following that event.
The meeting resolved to focus extensively on the demands to be made to Milton Keynes Council by the residents of Woburn Sands (and surrounding localities) to preserve the Library facility in its present form. To that end concerned residents are asked to write please (asap) to the Cabinet Member with responsibility for Libraries, Cllr Jenni Ferrans and / or to the Strategic Director with responsibility for Library Services, Lynda Bull setting out reasons why it is essential that the facility is preserved in its present form, write to both at:

Milton Keynes Council, Civic Offices, 1 Saxon Gate East, Milton Keynes, MK9 3HG

Or email: Jenni.ferrans@milton-keynes.gov.uk or Lynda.bull@milton-keynes.gov.uk

Residents are also invited to attend the meeting of the Milton Keynes Council Cabinet that will be voting on the budget for 2011 / 2012, which will be held at the Civic Offices (see address above) on 15th February 2011, starting at 7.30 pm and / or the Full Council Budget setting meeting scheduled for 22nd February (again from 7.30 pm). Residents wishing to ask a formal question at either meeting need to contact Gavin Lane (Senior Committee Manager, Cabinet Team Democratic Services at Milton Keynes Council) in advance of the meeting(s) on MK 252596.

The information sheet (in the documents library) is designed to assist residents in making evidence based representations to MK Council. It is recommended that examples of why the Woburn Sands Library is the only way in which you or your neighbours particular requirements can be met (and therefore why neither CMK Central Library nor a mobile library the alternatives likely to be offered by MK Council), would be appropriate.

Alternatively, write to me and I will see that your representations are delivered to the appropriate Cabinet member and senior council officer.

Cllr. David Hopkins
