22/09/2010 - Draft Core Strategy review update - news on MKSEDA

On the 8th June MK Council resolved to review its draft submission Core Strategy “ so that it may be amended to truly reflect the democratic local wishes of those people that represent the people and Borough of Milton Keynes” also opposing the South West Development Area (SWDA) in Aylesbury Vale, and opposing cross boundary development by stealth.

Over the next few months schedules of changes were considered and refined, and on the 26th August these were published for comment prior to the final group meeting on the 9th September. What the changes did was to reduce the RSS imposed housing targets to more realistic achievable levels and by so doing the South East Development Area (SEDA) was no long required. The Strategic Reserve Areas, noted as having the potential for development after 2011 were brought forward in the proposed changes.

On the 9th Septembre the schedule was agreed, and a delegated decision was made by the Executive member to the Group, prior to them being considered by the full council on the 14th Septermber. The full council unanimously passed the changes.

The revised draft Core Strategy will be published for Pre-Submission Consultation, and appropriate amendsments made before it is submitted to Government for examination by the Planning Inspector.
