27/02/2010 - Sandy Mount Woburn Sands Planning Application updated

There has been an application to convert and considerably extend Sandy Mount on Station Road linking it to the already extended Burlington Hall, to provide 12 nursing care units and 50 dependent living units. Members will no doubt remember the demolition of the house next door to the original Burlington Hall prior planning permission for the extension.

The Development Control Committee refused this application on the 12 February 2009, and we are advised that the applicant will appeal the decision. As with the Greens Hotel Application and subsequent appeal decision, the Society is opposed to this application and totally supportive of Woburn Sands Town Councils stance. A copy of the initial representation made can be found in the representation and documents library.

The applicant has appealed, and the society has reiterated and expanded on its objection to this development. Copy in the representation and documents library.

The appeal in respect of the refused application to make Sandy Mount and extension of Burlington Hall has been dismissed. The main reason being the privacy of residents both in Burlington Hall, and those in the proposed new building.
