09/06/2008 - East of England Plan and Supporting Docment has now been published.Habitats assessment in respect of flooding and Ouse washes from joint afffect of plans left to SE Plan

East of England Plan and Supporting Docment in respect of the Habitats assessment and consultation has now been published. Mid Bedfordshire falls within the area of this plan as well as suffering encroachment from the South East Plan offloading housing targets out of its area.

We are currently considering the contents of this of the plan and supporting document. In particular the areas which may, in combination with the yet to be published South East Plan, be unsustainable in terms of environment and infrastructure.

From consideration of the Supporting document the Government has decided to ignore the identified risk from flooding and threat to the Ouse Washes of the combination of East of England Plan, and as yet unpublished South East Plan - leaving it to the SE Plan to address.

We are currently considering the East of England Plan, but from superficial examination it would appear the Government has driven forward increased housing targets irrespective of views in respect of environment and infrastructure.
